Sunday the 9th of July was the Rockingham date for the Challenge series. As many of you will know, Rockingham is the only Oval Track in the Uk, used predominately for Ascar Racing on their well-known "Thunder Sundays", but has three infield tracks offering much to Motorsport and becoming more and more popular over the years as you really get that Big Circuit feel.
Tim Hood's sagaris V8 clinched a double-header, in front of andy holden and steve glynn in their Tuscans, with Darren Dowling being absent at Le mans. This stretches Tims lead in the Championship and confirming his position as the man to beat.
Graham Waldren came in fourth, just a shave in front of marc Hockin in his Griff. That must have been some tussle in Race 1 as there was less than 200ths of a second between them. The order staying the same for First to fourth in Race 2.
SFurther down the order, howard bryan put in a very creditable performance winning Group C in both races and sharing fastest laps with Mark Freeman. Mark needs a special mention here. This was his first race in a car new to him. He has had no testing and managed a fastest lap in race one and completing both Races. Top Job! (it should also be noted that the car was prepared by Dulford Automotive, in only a week, after the car has been standing for nearly three years! (Well done Big Col!)
