Well, we are just about there now. The car has been completely refurbished, from the ground up, by Dulford Automotive. What started as its winter fettle (a couple of bushes, full service, brake pads and the like) has ended up as a total recondition. All areas have had attention lavished on them to ensure that the car (hopefully) can race this season strongly and reliably in Group B.

We should be just about in the Group B 350 bhp limit (…ish), but due to the extra weight we carry as a road car with a lardy driver, we will be lucky to get near the Group B leaders. Our power to weight will be a well below the likes of Marc Hockin and Graham Walden. Still, we’ll give it a go.

The last couple of weeks has seen the final and most time consuming items attended too. The carbs and engine ancillaries are on allowing the set up of the engine. The dash has gone back in, so the Kill & Fire pulls can be done. The rewire can be completed with the armoured cables run through the sills etc and all those other “final jobs” are being taken care of as we speak including the boot spoiler. This is from an Audi TT and it works on them…so it should work on ours not by adding downforce, but by destroying the lift generated by the boot section.

Unfortunately, my Dad has been very ill in Hospital, which has meant that I could not attend the first race weekend at Oulton Park (which looked a Belter!) we also can’t make the Mallory races this weekend (though we are hopeful) but we will be out by Pembrey for rounds 4&5, by which time we should be able to shake the car down properly after running in at the Cerburgring event.
