Donnie needs £1M+ for racing.

Following the recent works for the failed F1 bid, Donington Park needs £1M+ to return their race licence.

At the start of the month (March 2010) over 2000 friends of the circuit attended a support meeting, encouraging new investors to take the plunge and return the track to a raceable world class venue. It’s not just the abandoned works that need to be addressed. Circuit owner Kevin Wheatcroft has put corrective works at £1,500,000+ as a full resurface is required along with new barrier and run offs.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. The BRSCC (British Racing Sports Car Club), The  BARC (British Automotive Racing Club) and MSV (Motor Sport Vision) have all expressed an interest in the circuit and Mr Wheatcroft is confident that the correct operator will be found to take the circuit on by the end of the year.

TVR Tuscans started at Donnie over 20 years ago, and the circuit has an enviable history and fan base to draw on, so I really hope that the circuit will fight back and that much of the original layout can remain. We’ll just have to wait and see.
