Aintree proved to be yet another great day’s competition. The rain toyed with us in the morning, but the timed runs were all dry. Paul Edwards and Simon Cole put in some stunning times with Paul winning on handicap by 0.01 sec (and raising a gasp from the bar when his time of 48.57 was announced!).
The course consists of only three corners, but they’re all challenging and get progressively faster and scarier; the final right hander goes on for ever and the exit speed is well into three figures. The speed trap on the finishing line a little further on was intriguing – I didn’t clock everyone’s figures, but I think Simon C, myself and Simon Bridge hit 130, 131 and 132 respectively. I suspect Paul’s T350 or David Drucker’s Cerbera might have been even faster?
Jackie Rasbach collected her highest ever points tally and Dave Wilkins seemed to enjoy his first sprint, successfully generated copious tyre smoke as he explored the outer reaches of the last corner. Marcus easily won the award for best looking and sounding burn out!

I’d highly recommend a trip to Aintree – although I suspect having copious amounts of grunt under the bonnet is a distinct advantage!
